In the fourth quarter of 2023, there were 88 505 registrations of enterprises recorded i.e. 2.6% more than in the corresponding period of previous year and 98 enterprises declared bankruptcy i.e. 12.5% less than in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Foreign trade turnover of goods in total and by countries in January-December 2023
Foreign trade turnover in January - December 2023 (based on temporary data) in exports at current prices amounted to PLN 1 604.1 bn, while in imports - PLN 1 555.4 bn. The positive balance reached the level of PLN 48.6 bn, while in the same period of 2022 year was negative and amounted to PLN 93.2 bn. In comparison to the corresponding period of last year exports decreased by 0.9%, and imports by 9.1%.

According to preliminary data, in January 2024 consumer prices increased by 3,9% compared with the corresponding month of the previous year. As related to the previous month consumer prices increased by 0,4%.

Average paid employment and average gross wages and salaries in enterprise sector in January 2024
In January 2024, the average paid employment in the enterprise sector compared with January 2023 was lower by 0.2% and amounted to 6 515.7 thousand full-time equivalent employees.
The average monthly wage and salary in the enterprise sector in January 2024 compared with January 2023 increased nominally by 12.8% and amounted to PLN 7 768.35 gross.

Consumer tendency - February 2024
In February 2024, current consumer moods remained unchanged with a simultaneous deteriorated in future consumer moods compared to the previous month. The current consumer confidence indicator, synthetically describing the current trends in individual consumption, was -12.6 and did not change in relation to last month.

Index numbers of construction and assembly production in January 2024
According to preliminary data construction and assembly production (in constant prices) carried out domestically by construction enterprises employing more than 9 persons was in January 2024 by 6.1% lower than in the same period of 2023 (an increase of 2.0% in the corresponding period of 2023) and by 63.2% lower compared to December 2023 (a decrease of 55.3% in the corresponding period of 2023).

Business tendency in manufacturing, construction, trade and services - February 2024
In February the assessments of general business climate indicator in all of presented kinds of activities are at a similar or higher level as compared to the ones presented in January. Regarding seasonally adjusted data, the indicator in most cases is close to the one that was noted a month ago. In all areas, apart from retail trade, the indicator is below the long-term mean[1]. In majority of studied areas, month-to-month level of "diagnostic" components does not change or deteriorates, whereas "forecasting" ones improve.

Employed, unemployed and economically inactive persons (preliminary LFS results) - the fourth quarter of 2023
In the fourth quarter of 2023, economically active persons accounted for 58.9% of the population aged 15-89. This indicator was higher than in the third quarter of 2023 (by 0.4 pp.) as well as in the fourth quarter of 2022 (by 0.2 pp.). The activity rate among men amounted to 66.0% and among women 52.3%.

Population in the labour market according to the results of the National Census of Population and Housing 2021 - updated version
The current edition of the publication results from the update of the data on the level of education in the publication “Population in the labour market according to the results of the National Census of Population and Housing 2021 – updated version” and is the result of determining the level of education for persons for whom it was not previously assigned. As a result, it was possible to more precisely calculate the educational structure as well as indicators related to the labour market for a significantly larger group of persons. Thanks to this, the quality of data improved and the level of education was determined for 711.1 thousand people who originally had an undetermined level of education (their number decreased from 1021,9 thousand to 310,8 thousand).

At the end of 2023, there were 1011413 entities of the national economy registered, i.e. by 4.4% more than in the previous year. More than half of the units (54.7%) had their seat in m.st. Warszawa. The largest number of entities (19.5%) declared that they operated in trade; repair of motor vehicles, however the highest increase as compared to 2022 occurred in the section of information and communication (by 11.4%).

In the total number of entities, natural persons conducting economic activity prevailed (54.9%). The majority of entities (19.3%) conducted professional, scientific and technical activities. Out of the total number of entities, the vast majority (91.4%) belonged to the private sector.
